Greetings from Big Bear!

There is a lot going on in Big Bear and I am sure the same issues are going on where you live too. It is almost political with the amount of people that think businesses should stay closed and the business owners who are suffering and are protesting to open their stores, vacation rentals, marinas, etc. Some of those businesses were on the channel 4 news 2 days ago protesting.

Vacation rentals are still not allowed as far as I know this morning. The marinas are not allowed to open and many events have been cancelled. City Council meeting a few nights ago even said there will be no yard sales allowed on Memorial Weekend and the memorial would have too many people gathering so they will be cancelling that. It has been rumored that even the 4th of July was cancelled. I am still seeing people fishing, bike riding and hiking. We are having a lot of day trippers getting out of the heat. Most businesses that are still open are requiring a mask to be worn prior to entering their facility.

Market update: There are currently 392 homes and condos on the market and this time last year there was 434. From April 1, 2019-May 15, 2019 there were 150 homes sold, this year during that time there were 63 homes sold. From April 1 to today there are 118 homes in escrow. Home sales have dropped this year due to the virus however we are still seeing a lot of buyer activity here in Big Bear. Here are the stats by area of Big Bear of solds from April 1-May 15 currently:

Big Bear Lake (Including Central, East and West, Fox Farm and Moonridge): 25 homes sold out of 230 that are currently on the market.

Big Bear City: 16 homes sold out of 76 that are currently on the market.

Sugarloaf: 14 homes sold out of 32 that are currently on the market.

Erwin Lake: 6 homes sold out of 24 that are currently on the market.

Baldwin Lake: 0 homes sold out of 10 that are currently on the market.

Fawnskin: 1 home sold out of 20 that are currently on the market.

I have an page on Facebook called Events & Activities in Big Bear if you are interested in knowing what is going on each week, virtually or non virtually. This weekend the Big Bear Trail 10k says it will be still taking place. Farmers Market has been coming on Tuesdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The California Association of Realtors has put in to effect COVID-19 forms for all buyers who look at property or all sellers to comply with. The sellers are allowed to give certain restrictions to viewing their home that must be followed and buyers must sign a form regarding the risks of looking at homes during this time. I am doing video walk throughs for any clients that would like to shop that way instead of going physically in to the home. I am wearing my mask and have lysol and wipes to protect my clients.
